Drawings may suggest depth and texture, but folded paper brings shape to life, sculpting low-poly shapes that feel solid yet simple. Sketching fine details on precise creases would be laborious in real life – but the AI makes it easy, blending sculptural structures with expressive linework and shading.
The result? Animals that jump off the page or peek through holes in the paper, Every fold and stroke reinforces a sense of depth, volume, and surprisingly solid presence.
Papercraft was developed
Because my work often explores Tactile depth In physical forms or Depth of depth In drawing, it felt natural to see what happens when the two intertwine. Leads to the work shown here.
After completing this series of photos, I searched to see if anything similar existed online. The closest results appeared under the term “manufactured papercraft” but these examples were surprisingly simple. Mostly atypical templates or basic aggregate shapes with minimal sketchy overlays.
In contrast, my work transforms juxtapositions into multi-layered effects. Sculptural 3D form blending with precise linework to explore the textural properties of emergent, ruptured, and imaginative content.
