by SkillAiNest

Three parents – Reni Kao, Xiao Zhang, and Susan Roshanthil – were worried about their children’s screen time, so they left their tech jobs to create a product that encourages children to engage with the real world while also helping them learn their new language. Their move has ended, as the company has recently collected 8 4.8 million financing.

The new launched gadget is called Dex And a high -tech meaging is resembled with a glass lens on one side and the touch screen on the other. When the baby uses the device to take pictures of the items, AI uses image identification technology to identify this item and translate the word into a selected language. It also includes the lessons and sports of the interactive story.

Although children -based language learning apps such as doolingo kids, Dex argues that it requires a more interesting approach that emphasizes experiences, which allow children to be drowned in the language.

“We are trying to teach an authentic language in the real world that is interactive in the real world.” “Children are not only listening or not what they are asked to do, but they are thinking, creating, communicating, running around, running around, and just wanting to know about things, and getting the necessary language associated with these ideas and objects.”

Dax is designed for children aged 3 to 8 years and currently supports Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. It also provides support for 34 dialects, including Egyptian Arabic, Taiwan Mandarin, and Mexican Spanish.

In addition to the identity of the object, Dax offers a library of interactive stories that encourage children to actively participate in the narrative. When the story comes out, children are indicated to respond, as the language they are learning in the role of greeting.

A detailed overview of his child’s progress for the device comes with a dedicated app, in which he has included words, his stories in which he has engaged, and has included the number of consecutive days using Dax.

In addition, Dex is currently developing a feature that allows children to ask questions from AI Chatboat and engage in free form conversation. This feature is already available for some testers, but the company recognizes that it is not ready for a wider rollout. Parents may also be careful about introducing their children AI chat boats.

During our test of Dax, we had concerns about the possibility of learning a child’s inappropriate words. The CAO assured us that “tight security indicators” are included whenever a large language model is used in vision, reasoning and text speech.

He said, “We always have a security agent who reviews the conversation in real time and filters the conversation with the safe stop word list.

In addition, it states that AI is trained using words standards that are found in Britanica’s children and children’s encyclopedia.

In our testing, AI successfully ignored the topics related to the Iranian. However, he recognized the term “gun” and translated it correctly, parents should consider when buying the device.

In response to our results, Cao told us, “I am not upset, but I think this is especially a matter of concern among parents.” He added that these concerns have soon forced the company to introduce an option in settings to filter specific words, such as guns, cigarettes, Wap Pans, fireworks, marijuana and beer bottles.

Dax also has a zero policy to maintain data. Although this means that there is no danger of storing sensitive or personal images, one of the negative aspects may be that parents can be left in the dark about which their children can capture.

Dax is also actively working to obtain Copa Certification, which will make it in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

The company received funds from the wrist EVC, embedded VC, example and Aplicex. Notable angel investors include Pennist’s founder Ben Silberman, Curates co -founder Edwardo Vivas, Laylen Wang, a former Safety head in Openi, and Richard Wong (former Carceira).

The device costs $ 250, which feels standing for children’s products. However, Dax positions itself as a more affordable alternative to hiring tutor services, which can be studied up to $ 80 per hour, or in a language immersion school, which can cost thousands of dollars.

Dax says hundreds of families have already purchased the device.
