AI artist: Can a machine really be creative? | By comfortable science insights | September, 2025

by SkillAiNest

In recent years, the number of artificial intelligence has gone beyond a decrease or analysis of data. Today, it can write music, paint photos, and even write poetry. Art galleries have shown some AI-generated work- and even sold for millions of dollars.

It leads us to an interesting question: Can a machine be really creative?

What is the creativity?

First of all, we need to ask: What is the creativity?

  • Is it the ability to create new ideas?
  • To connect existing people into something fresh thing?
  • Or is it a process that reflects our emotions and imagination?

If we describe creativity as merely “creating something new and original” then AI seems worth it. But when we bring intentions, emotions and consciousness, things become more complicated.

How does AI make art?

AI art is widely developed by analyzing billions of photos, songs, or texts. It then uses samples that have learned to develop something “new”.

But here is the key difference:

  • Human artists create as a reflection of their living experiences and emotions.
  • AI creates something similar by following the possibilities of mathematics, but is different.

Real creativity or just smart imitation?

Some people say that AI will never be “really creative”, because it lacks consciousness and intention. For them, AI’s production is nothing but the prediction of art dresses.

However, other suggestions suggest that creativity does not need to be linked to human consciousness. If the result moves us, provokes the thinking, and raises aesthetic value – should we not consider it an art, regardless of whether (or who) has made it?

A new partnership between humans and machines

Instead of seeing AI as a competitor, we should probably see it as a Creative partner. The human imagination, combined with the machine precision, can completely open the door to new art forms.

Just like how photography did not kill painting but changed it, perhaps AI would not eliminate art – it could explain it new.

Final views:

The real question may not be whether AI can be creative, but what creativity itself is a particularly human trait.

AI artists do not give the final answer. But by moving the boundaries of art, they challenge us to revise the creativity.
