Tips from a Serial Career Changer with Guthub’s Andrea Griffiths (Podcast #199)

by SkillAiNest

Today Quincy Larson interviews Andrea Griffiths, who taught herself programming using FreecodeCamp while working in construction. When she was 17, she moved from Colombia to the United States, and within 6 months she joined the US Army. He ran a chain of James before landing a support role at a tech company, then climbing to product manager and eventually developer advocate at GitHub.

We talk about:

  • Tips for busy parents who want to learn new skills.

  • How there is no substitute for your own critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Although learning programming for free is becoming easier every day, people are very busy, and many find it harder and harder to sit down and do it.

Support for this podcast is provided by a grant from Algominister. Algomaster is a platform that teaches data structures and algorithm patterns in a structured way, so you can approach technical interview questions more systematically. Their curriculum covers paradigms such as sliding window, two points, graph search, and dynamic programming, helping you learn each paradigm one at a time and apply it to solve many problems. Start a structured interview prep routine
