The summer is eventually here, and as the temperature reaches the unbearable temperature, staying cool in our homes can be a challenge.
This is especially the case if you do not have the best smart air conditioner, or your AC has suddenly stopped blowing the cold air.
And while there are many clever ways to beat the heat without the AC, but this unconventional, fan hack has gone viral – and it has surprised social media too!
So, what is this strange fan hack that promises to stay cool in the heatwave?
Fan cooling hack
Although most of us identify our cooling fans in the room, and close our windows, this hack suggests to be completely opposed.
Ticatok user tayyyylzPosted a video that states that most people should plan to get out of the open window or door to keep cool, rather than identifying a fan in the room.
She describes the smart, the cooling truck was advised by her boyfriend, who is a power and cooling engineer.
The video clip depicts a tower fans that point to an open window with the title, “When he says that if we point out to the fans out of the open window, it will cool down the room quickly, it is fine.”
It is not surprising that this tricktok video went viral, which promoted more than 2.2 million ideas, and more than 300 comments from curious audience have raised the question of how it actually works.
One user asked, “If your windows are hot outside, why would you open?” While another commented, “If you have two fans on your opponents, it works better, one is blowing in the air and the other is blowing inside the air.”
Although this method may be contradictory, how effective is this cooling hack?
What does our expert say
As we love the smart hex here on the Tom Guide, we always do our research, and have asked an expert to confirm (or debank) such claims.
Surprisingly, this is true! And it’s all about making more ventilation, and creating better air circulation in the room.
“Opening the opposite of windows or doors creates a way for air flow from your home – a fundamental principle of ventilation,” Les Roberts, Energy Expert, Bionic.
“Even better than the air flow, you can put the other fan in the inside to pull the cooling in the room to pull the outside air, which produces a strong cross air.
Keeping the original fan to face the outer pushes the hot indoor air, which in turn draws the cool air from the second opening.
But how will this procedure work if it is especially hot and tough days?
“It works most effectively when the outside air cools from the inside, usually in the evening, overnight or early morning. The temperature difference (known as temperature is the temperature) naturally operates air movement from cooler to warm areas.
This process helps fans work rather than natural transport, which makes your home more comfortable than the minimal energy use.
Another smart trick is to keep the cup with snow or frozen water bottles in front of your fan.
The idea is that if you keep your hand close to the ice, the air itself feels good and cool – like a DIY air conditioner.
So if the next time you are taking more heat in the house this summer, try to identify your fans instead. And what’s, it’s completely free!
