  • The team behind the /E /OS Android Fork has focused on some security claims about the platform.
  • This has come when the graphinos developers criticized the /E /OS for being “far behind” in terms of refreshments.
  • Fair Phone General 6 /E /OS software ship in the United States.

The Fairphone General will launch 6 next month using the Google Free /E /OS platform in the United States. However, the developers behind the Privacy Graphinos Android Fork made some claims about the platform. The team behind the /E /OS has now posted a blog post to resolve these claims.

Morina, Joe /E /OS behind the company, appeared Blog Post Explaining that he took security issues seriously. However, he also criticized the graphinos developers, which is called “misleading claims”.

The team confirmed that it targeted “standard industry methods” for timely security works:

Therefore, for the release of the month N, our current work flow is to connect the Android security patches to the monthly N-1. As a result, in the worst case, the latest available safety will take up to nine weeks to eliminate the latest safety. In most cases, this will happen very soon.

The team also explained that it makes an exception to zero day achievements and tries to “provide these patchs as soon as possible”. It also posted a table showing how large Android smartphone makers compare the update interval. This suggests that as far as ordinary patches go /E /OS is in accordance with some big OEMS. You can see this screenshot below.

Morina also printed with claims that it was behind the browser’s updates for webView matters. The company said it has released a two -day Web View fix and June Security Patch level with the recently released /E /OS 3.0.4. At its price, these two zero -day achievements were shown in early June and late June.

What is the next for Morina? Well, the company confirmed that it would improve something:

Morina is taking security issues seriously, and our policy on the integration of security patch in /E /OS is much comparison or even better than many mobile OS vendors in the smartphone industry.

However, as part of our ongoing efforts to constantly improve, we have decided to reduce the time of the integration of monthly security updates in /E /OS. So we will slowly update our blood infrastructure to allow the latest safety updates to roll out after the days after their release.

Morina will continue to deploy Urgent /E /OS Bloods for 0 day security fixes

The company also disagreed with several other claims of the graphinos team. One, he said /E /OS did not hide the real level of the patch but exposed these fields “just like stock Android”. Graphinos developers argued that Fairphone General 6 lacks a secure element, which has made “modest” for damaged actors to force a pin code or basic password. Morina rejected the claims, argued that Qualcomm’s safe processing unit means that the attackers may take “years” to recover six digits.

What do you think about the security and privacy of /E /OS?

Morina also confirmed that she uses open source microwg framework to join some Google services (such as Push notifications), but added that users can replace Google’s notification service for the Unified Pashtun platform. It is worth noting that Microbiga is a long -standing, popular alternative to Google Play Services that facilitates people to use Google Apps and Services. This framework is especially useful on customs ROMs and Huawei phones, which usually lack Google services. So this is a sensible involvement if you want to allow people to use some Google apps on another Google platform.

There is clearly some scope to improve their safety methods for Morina and Fairphones. However, every Android thorns do not have the same security and privacy priorities. Thankfully, the beauty of the Android ecosystem means that if you have specific requirements, you can turn into different Android skin, Android Fork, or Customs ROM. In any case, you can read Full Blog Post /E /OS for a more comprehensive response by team.
