Google makes great apps, but if you ask me, these aren’t

YouTube Music vs. Spatif 4

Andy Walker / Android Authority

Google is a software company and knows how to make good apps. I mean, I use apps like Gmail, Maps, YouTube and drive on a regular basis. Then there are its AI -based apps such as Notebook LMs, the most zero app ever in Google’s weapons.

However, I think there are some apps that are developed and they need some serious work. They are very fundamental to me, or lack the many features you get with competition. I know that Google is about simplicity in times, but it takes things far away with some of its apps.

I want to discuss four of them and I want to tell why I think they need to be upgraded intensely. Let’s sink.

Which of these apps is your least favorite?

Google Cap

Place Google Text Formatting 1

Joe Mark / Android Authority

As far as the note -taking apps go, the Google Cap is as basic as they get. Even basic things like text formatting are very basic, just offer some options. Although the app itself began a decade ago, the features of these basic formatting were only included in the Android app in 2023, which was captured two months ago.

You have two headline options on the offer, as well as courageous, Itlays and Underline Text capacity. Just You cannot change the color, cannot adjust the font size out of the available titles, or make a list of tablets.

Although you can upload photos to a note, you can’t keep them in a particular area, as they automatically show up. You can make a lab lab to try and configure your notes, but you can’t make notebooks like most Google Cap rivals.

I know Google is trying to keep it as an easy note -taking app, as many people are involved. Not everyone wants an app that is filled with features such as Aurenot or idea. However, it has a limit, and I think adding things like a better system to manage better formatting options and notes will still remain that simple nature is going to Google and will significantly improve the app’s overall use. I was a cap user for years but eventually decided to go to the rival app for these reasons.

Google Tasks

Google Tasks feature 1

I tried it for a while and IT really wanted to love it, especially since it was well connected with Gemini, but I couldn’t afford it. If you think the cap is basic, take a look at the tasks. It is just like naked bones.

I’ve been using Todoast for years, and it still feels like a very easy app to use. However, it is full of features that improve overall experience and if I do not want to use them, they do not come in my way.

I like that I can write “Laundry Crow at 6 pm every Wednesday” and the app will now create a frequent operating job. Since it supports the natural language input, I don’t have to manually choose the date or time. I just type it. It’s easy and efficient.

With Google Task, you don’t find any of it.

I also like that I can give everything a priority level, use filters and labels for a better organization, create sub -projects, and I can see that in many other features, what’s in my dolist today for better attention.

With Google Task, you don’t find any of it. I can only highlight the features that have the ability to make lists and add a star to a job so you can find it faster. Really, very basic things. With the amount of money, knowledge and manpower with Google, it should be able to make us a suitable list app rather than offering naked bones, which I don’t think many people use.

YouTube music

YouTube music discovers the tab on an Android device that is bent on a pile of black books.

Nathan Dreasher / Android Authority

This is the most developed app ever on this list. This is a good overall, I will give it it, but still it needs to work because it faces stiff competition with spatial and likes.

I would like to reduce the number of apps I used, so I would ideally like YouTube music to become my main app for podcast, but it’s not going to happen at any time. The podcast feature on YouTube music feels like a subsequent thinking rather than being well integrated into the overall experience. It is very difficult to find a podcast to listen, because its discovery feature is not very good than competitors apps. If you know what you want to hear, you can find it, and that’s it. But if you want to find a new podcast in specific species or see what other people are in, YouTube music is not so good.

Then there are limits of free project. When I close the screen, the music is running, which is at home, there is no big deal, because I have a tendency to watch videos and check the tune while listening to my favorite jams. But when I am in my car, the display must be off because I want to keep the battery life safe. I can’t do it with YouTube music, but I think I should be able to, especially since Google gets enough money from the two ads that I have to hear every fourth or fifth song.

For example, the free plan of the spotifies allows background playback when the screen is off, and even more interesting is that I have a significant lower number of listening ads compared to YouTube music. Certainly, Spatifs have other limits that YouTube does not do, but I can live with them while listening to music in my car.

Google Wallpapers

Pixel 8 Pro

I recently broke my phone and had to go to the old One Plus for time. I turned it on and I found a Google Wallpaper app that I forgot. The pixel maker and a wallpaper app from all these fancy apps that I use all the time may seem interesting, but this excitement went away a few minutes after its opening.

The app is a super -bask and has a very small choice of wallpapers, especially Compared to a rival app Z Edge. Wallpapers are separated in just ten types, which is surprisingly less known how many categories offer similar apps.

The choice of wallpapers is limited.

Not only is the choice limited, the wallpapers themselves are not really good. Most of my opinion are very common, though I have arranged to find some good people. The interesting thing to me is that Google has not even bothered to connect the app with Gemini, which will allow users to create custom wallpapers based on gestures. Google has a competitive advantage here that it is not just using. The app itself is just basic that I don’t know why Google made it first.

These are the four apps that Google needs to work, but tell me in the comments if you think anyone else is crossing.

Some of them bring back memories of apps like Google Podcast, which were so basic for me for unknown reasons that Google decided to kill them.

. I don’t think it’s going to be with apps like Cape and YouTube music, but I don’t think many people will remember the app like a wallpaper. At least, I will not.
