Shortly thereafter, I was talking to a musician friend and made a terrible mistake to mention that I had a dispute with the AI in my musical composition. I have also said that I have joined the Republican Party.

“I will Never Use AI, “before starting in this sermon, he said how it was displaced by artists and hitting art itself. He mourned his experience as a working boss player, now gaining at least studio jiggs that AI can easily create the whole band with his life.

My friend represents the latter of two artists’ camps in my life: people who embrace AI, and those who think they can fight the terminator.

I am a lifetime artist and musician, who works in the field -related field, which supports dozens of creations daily. I jam with friends, write articles (thus) I see it as a meaningful work tool I’m already doing – especially useful for enhancing, modifying, or even making plans that would be otherwise impossible.

The debate about AI and art reminds me of the 90s, when people were still discussing vs vs electronic music. To me, then the classic musicians, electronic devices and programs were never in danger – they were liberating. They opened the world of new voices completely. Without these technical innovations, we will not have the brilliant voice of Brian Eno or Farya’s brilliant off -bat. And while capitalism has certainly accelerated the pace of technical change, but artistic tools are always ready – long before capitalism, and much later. The campaign to create with new forms is part of something that makes us human.

So, I don’t think Ai is an enemy.

The real enemy? It is larger than a computer, larger than electricity, the country is bigger than the one I live.

This is capitalism.

In this society, art is widely regarded as a commodity. Most artists live for a specific purpose: composer film scores, graphic designers make craft advertisements, filmmakers prepare fun. Unless you are lucky to be one of the few people who attack gold with your own intelligence, art is something we sell for a function. When it is connected to income in this fast, materialistic culture, almost no one has complete freedom in their work.

So the struggle to keep the spirit of art alive is nothing new. Ai only throws him in a severe relief. More than before, it forces us to ask: What is the meaning of art in this world that only values artists that can cause them under capitalist obstacles?

I Art on my mindFeminism and Cultural Critics Bell Hooks reflect on how art maintains its grandfather’s spirit in the face of racism and capitalism:

“South Black men who had opposition aesthetic were often economically deprived but were rich in soul.

For Dad, creation was not about identity or income. It was the work of the soul. It means itself – to create a beautiful atmosphere for your soul. This story transforms the script by seeing art as a dead product, commodity, a living function, existence and living process. This is an experience.

The difference between AI and humans is that we assign the meaning of what we make. The art we create is not just about the ultimate product – it’s about it Experience To make it. The process struggle insightful feeling!

When AI produces a song, it does this through a series of algorithms. When I write a song, I wrestle with thoughts, discover myself, get a new understanding of the world – sometimes even new to new. Occasionally, those songs resonate with others. Sometimes they don’t. But in any way, it is not about the financial success of the finished product. This is about cultivating a meaningful life.

I have always been saddened that artists are so important in our society, and that commodity is God. But like a very bull hooks grandfather – who faced more struggle and oppression than ever – I believe that the original resistance is not in making art, but not in it. Existence Art. It is to survive. To engage with it as a process that revives the soul.

As long as people are present with this understanding, art will never be lost – not from capitalism, and certainly not from machines.
