But the eyes of the Chinese AI toy companies go beyond the country’s borders. Bubblepal was launched in the United States in December 2024 and is now available in Canada and the United Kingdom. And Folotoy is now sold in more than 10 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Germany and Thailand. Alfauch.com’s Chinese tech analyst Roy Ma says AI devices for children have a special meaning in China, where there is already a well -established market for children -oriented educational electronics. It is a market that does not exist globally. Kong Miaumiao, CEO of Folotoy, told the Chinese outlet Beijing Chauha that his firm is still “reaching early adoptions who want to know about the AI.”
China’s AI toy boom has been built for decades of consumer electronics, especially designed for children. In the early 1990s, companies like BB made popularized devices like electronic dictionary and “study machines”, marketing parents as educational aids. These toy electronics hybrids read aloud, tell interactive stories, and imitate the role of a playmate.
The competition is getting heated, however – US companies have also started producing and selling AI toys. Composer Graemes helped to make Grook, a plush toy that chats with children and is according to their personality. The toy is working with Dev Metal Openi to bring AI discussed in brands like Barbie and Hot wheels, the first product will be announced later this year.
However, reviews of parents who buy AI toys in China have been received. Although many people admire the fact that they are screen -free and come with a parent’s strict control, some parents say that their AI’s abilities may damage, which makes the children easily tired.
Beijing -based Penny Huang bought a bubble Paul for his five -year -old daughter, mostly carried out by grandparents. Huang hoped that the toy could make it less lonely and reduce its permanent requests to play with adults’ smartphones. But the novelty ended rapidly.
Huang says, “The reaction is too long and literal. My daughter loses patience quickly,” says Huang, “Huang says,” This (rollplay) does not feel as deeply-just a sound that sometimes appears out of place. ”
