Google’s Android 16 updates are now available for pixels, and like many of you, I go out eagerly to update my phone as soon as the new software is straight. Although Android 16 is not the most thrilling OS upgrade we have never seen (really big changes are coming to Android 16 QPR1), a new Android update is still interesting, no matter how small.
Android 16 has been amazingly running at my Pixel 9A so far. This is not a strict refreshment, but it is smooth, responsible, and there are small opportunities and it is being greatly appreciated. It’s a good update out of the box, but I’m enjoying it even more after changing a specific sequence.
A small (but significant) change in the power button

For years, double tapping the power button on Pixel phones has launched the camera. That is how most Android phones work, and it’s a reasonable shortcut. However, as a person who sometimes goes several days without using a camera, it is not always the most helpful for how to use my phone.
Thankfully, Android 16 finally lets you turn it into something else.
By Settings appScroll down, tap SystemTap SignalsAnd then tap Double -press power button. From here, you will see that you can now change the power button double tape shortcut to open the Google Wallet instead of the camera. And you know what? It rule.
Although I don’t use my phone’s camera app at all times, I use the Google Wallet permanently for a reason or for another reason. It has all my credit cards, my library card, movie tickets (which I often do, live at the front door of a movie theater), my health insurance card, and more. I find myself using Google Wallet every other day and, in some cases, many times daily – more often than using a camera in More.
I imagine that not everyone is so, but in my situation, having Google Purse is just a double -nap. Is it difficult to access this from an app icon on my home screen? Not definitely. But I like the physicality of wearing a buttons. With the power to double the power button, I am pulling my pixel 9A out of my pocket, so Google Purse is ready to go immediately, this is a good convenience.
I didn’t expect such a simple sequence so helpful, but now that I have been with it for a couple of days, I don’t think I will go back to the old camera shortcut. Changing a double tape indicator into a Google wallet is such a good option, and I’m glad Google added it to Android 16.
What is better double tape shortcut: Camera or Google Wallet?

Hope that, is a sign of incoming more

As I am with the Google Wallet option for double tape in Android 16, I hope this is the beginning of even bigger changes. A choice between the camera and Google Purse is great, but still Google can do a lot.
Samsung, for example, allows you to make a double tape shortcut map on your phone to take a camera, flashlight, magnesifier, voice recorder, Samsung note, routines, or screenshots. And if none of them are interested, you can create a config to open an app installed on your phone.
Still a lot of Google can do here.
Google has to travel a long journey before receiving the customization level on Pixel phones, but I would like to think that the Google Wallet option in Android 16 means more choices are on the way. You want to double tap the power button to do anything other than a camera or Google Wallet, and I hope you get this option soon.
But hey, if not so, at least now we have to say something about what double tape shortcuts do. I am suppressed that now I am tied to the Google Wallet, and if you have just downloaded Android 16 or doing so fast, I urge it to check it out.
