  • Android is finding several new dynamic images as part of its material 3 -3 expression.
  • Google has begun testing one of the latest Android 16 QPR1 beta release.
  • It appears as a black overlay that spreads from screen borders when you put a long pressure on the power button.

In addition to fresh UI elements, Android’s new Material 3 Expressive design language is ready to introduce some smart new dynamic images. We gave you a preliminary look at these dynamic images last month, and Google has now begun testing the new power button long press animation in the latest Android 16 QPR1 beta release.

Google eliminated Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 last week, along with a stable Android 16 update for its pixel devices. In addition to the significant changes, such as desktop mode, desktop winding for tablets, custom keyboard shortcuts, and task bar overflows, new extract animation has been introduced in the update, which shows when you place the power buttons to seek the voice assistant.

As shown earlier, it appears as a black overlay that spreads from the borders of the screen and disappears just before the assistant’s overlay popup. You can see it in action in the attached video (via A_Button117 on the discard). This new animation will likely reach users of Android 16 Qpr1, which is expected to reach Google shortly after the new pixel 10 lineup was unveiled.
