A new report reveals that a part of the WWDC 2025, a part of iOS 26, could prove to be an important factor in the 20th birthday iPhone design.
Her recently Electricity on the newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gorman claims that Apple’s iOS 26 new interface design, called “liquid glass”, will set the stage for Apple’s future product. Liquid glass is the name given to a set of new elements of the interface that “glass surface sheen and viewer are visual.” According to Gorman, this will mean that the effects of transparency and brightness will be included in “All Apple’s Toolbars, Interfaces and Controls in the app”.
These new design elements are part of the full range of the Apple operating system, which will result in an integrated look in all Apple’s products. However, as Gorman has said, this new design will also be used as a launchpad for the next 20th anniversary iPhone format, which is apparently called the “Glass Wing” expected in 2027. Not only will this device display the design element according to Gorman, but it will have a curved display that will “increase the concept of glass”.
Apple is allegedly working to complete the iPhone 20 fully edge display, which means removing or minimizing the display cutout like a dynamic island. Engineer will be difficult to do, but Apple is allegedly planning to move parts of the dynamic island under the display, such as Front Kong Camera and Face ID.
Although this new OS design language would be one of the clear revelations about the WWDC 2025 event, it is even more expected we expect to see in the program. For example, while we can assume that the event will be focused on the next generation of software updates, there is a lot of debate around how Apple Intelligence will be discussed. Some, like Mark Gorman, also believe that Apple will not mention its future AI plans for the program, while others hope that Apple offers news about the future of Siri 2.0, even if it means that screaming about the problem is delayed for almost a year.
For this time, there is still much that we don’t know about Apple’s 20th birthday iPhone, including what hardware will be. However, after today, there will be more information about iOS 26 and liquid glass design. As we see them for all the news and revelations, keep an eye on our WWDC 2025’s direct blog, which we will update during the event.
