The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has approved open book diagnosis for students of Class 9, starting at the educational meeting of 2026-27, after a successful pilot study.

Previous effort: Open text -based diagnosis (OTBA) was introduced but it was closed because it did not significantly improve the critical ability to think

The CBSE will provide schools as part of their internal diagnostic system effectively to provide guidelines and training to implement these diagnoses.
