Grief forced me to get away from my company. These 5 systems made it possible.

They have their own opinions expressed by business partners.

When you are running a business, time removal from time to time usually means planning for weeks (or months). You have great troubles for making coverage, Prep Clients, social media posts schedule and hope that when you are away, nothing unexpectedly comes out.

But life does not always give you a head. Recently, I had to get away from my company for two weeks after losing my father’s mental cancer. He had been fighting the disease for a while, but when things progressed rapidly and he entered the hospital care, I knew that I needed to be fully present with him and my family. Planning for a funeral, getting all his matters in order, staying there for his loved ones, and going through his own bereaved journey, was a great emotional emotional great enthusiasm. And for the first time in my business career, I was completely able to go away, and the business was going on.

The money still came in. The clients were taken care of. Social media has not lost. The suggestions kept going out. And he reminded me that the way I made my business.

Whether you are in the middle of a personal crisis or just need holidays, you don’t need to choose between your life and your business. Here are some strategies that made it possible for me for two weeks, and how you can start using them in your business right now.

1. Create a team on which you trust not only “to do” but also trust to think

There is a team with a team that completes tasks. It is another that people who can assess the problems and before you know that there is a fire can be resolved. My team is more than the original MVPs, they are thinkers. They know our goals, understand our clients and make decisions confidently. If your team awaits your approval before taking action, you are an obstacle. And I’ve been a barrier before.

Empower your team to work in your absence by encouraging your team freely and making it clear. When I had to step, I didn’t have to worry about what things would have to crack, because my team handled it. Such leadership and trust are invaluable.

2. Organize everything

If your business works only when you’re working, you don’t have a business – you have a job. One who owns. The key is to get access to your team (especially knowledge in your head). In our business, we use a work management platform to handle all our client projects. Every deadline, supply and work is visible. So when someone needs to take steps (like when my project manager had to go on a maternity leave last year), this is smooth.

Now start document your actions. It doesn’t need to be liked. A Google Doctor works well with step -by -step instructions. If you ever want to scale or sell your business, the documentary system is essential.

3. Delegation results, not just work

Businesses are notorious for micro management. I have been there, thinking that I can make it faster or better because I’ve been in marketing for more than 20 years. But this mentality restricts growth.

Instead of assigning tasks, delegates to goals. Give your team “what” and let them know how. By doing so, it creates confidence, encourages ownership, and often leads to better results you have achieved yourself. Creating this shift will allow you to focus on a big picture and step up when needed as your team knows to move the ball forward.

4. Make everything you can do

When I was out, my business billing runs automatically through the online payment processing platform. Our emails went out weekly through our CRM system. Social media posts were scheduled a month ago. All this happened without lifting me.

It is the power of automation. You do not need a large -scale tech stack. Just see where you work and ask, “Can this be automatic?”

Think about:

  • Scheduleing tools online for appointments
  • Repeatedly receipts and Ach billing
  • CRM Email setting for upbringing leads
  • Social Media Schedurs to stay permanent

These tools will not just save your time, they will give you peace of mind.

5. Practice to be absent

It may seem strange, but it is important: Learn how to walk. If your business can’t work without you, it is not really expanding. Take smaller steps by shutting down time where you are not deliberately available. Leave a meeting or take a few hours leave in the middle of the day. Start slowly if you need it, but start.

Finally, when something unexpected – or when an interesting opportunity comes – you will be able to get out of there without being separated. Entrepreneurship is about independence. Not only financial freedom, but also freedom of time. It doesn’t matter whether it is a personal emergency or just a journey you are dreaming about. You should be able to get away from your business and trust that it will continue to move forward in your absence.

I didn’t make such a business overnight. It increased the years of trials and mistakes, delegations, automations, and a team that I can trust, which was not easy. But I can tell you from experience: It’s worth it. Because when there is life – and it will – the last thing you should worry about is whether your business will survive without you.
