Lokuround: Location -based billboards for local life and events

by SkillAiNest

🚀 Hey Product Hunt! We’re launching the Lokuround – where your neighborhood comes alive

I have spent a lot of time passing through the palaces, and one thing has really stood in front of me – we have been disconnected from our local communities. Do you know that in coffee shops or community centers they know old school bulletin boards where people flown about events, sales or local news? They are either gone or neglected. So I made LOC Locoral to bring this idea into a simple, fun way into the digital world.

We are deprived of many cool things around us. The food truck you didn’t know was standing on the road, a local artist’s popup, the sale of your neighbor’s garage – all of this is lost in the sea of global social media posts. The Internet is great in connecting us to the world, but it is terrible to connect us to our own palaces.

Small businesses and local creators also find it difficult to reach nearby. Advertising on major platforms is expensive and is not really made for local things. Even when they try, their posts are buried under everything. On the other hand, people always think “What’s happening near me today?” But this is not a good way to know, unless you are in the right Facebook group or to pass through the wall.

That’s why I made a Locard. This is like a live map of your neighborhood where people can post digital flyers called “handbills”. You can see what is happening around you in real time, such as a community board that is always the latest. The posting is extremely simple, and it is designed to feel like a physical world, where spectators naturally receive attention.

You may be wondering – isn’t it like Next strings, Facebook groups, or even Google Maps? Good question! But the folklound is built for a different web.

Next strings and Facebook groups are mostly text -based posts and discussions threads. You have to scroll through many random things – sometimes drama, sometimes old posts – just to find some useful. Lokuround is more about visual discovery. You open a map, and you immediately see what is happening around you through digital flyers. It’s like passing through a real bulletin board, where colorful posters naturally catch your eye.

Google Maps is great to find places that are always present, such as restaurants or stores. But this is not a temporary or popup designed for things. You will not see the garage sale on the road today, or food trucks that have been available for only a few hours. “What’s happening near me right now?” Gap is an easy way to make small, local events visible for people who are actually near.

How does it work:

🎯 Dying – More and more people like handbills, commenting or communicating, the bigger it appears on the map. If something is popular, it will stand more like real life, where some posters get your attention better than others.

Posts two types of posts:

• Boards – Permanent places for business, artists, or community groups. It is like having a small share on the neighboring board.

• Flyers – events, garage sales, lost pets, or instant posts for temporary things that need to be seen faster.

🤖 AI search that feels natural – you do not need to find the exact keyword. Just type something such as “Coffee Shops with Direct Music” or “things to do with kids this weekend”, and our AI will get a handbill that gets matches, even if words are not exactly. It looks at the pictures and detail to understand what you are looking for.

So, what problems does the Lokuround solve? A bunch, actually:

• It helps small businesses and creators feel locally without paying ads. They can reach the real people roaming their area.

• It helps locals find out what is happening near them today. Big concerts are not music or city events, but small, comfortable, neighboring things.

• It provides people with an easy way to share local events. You don’t have to create a website or start the event page – just drop a flyer on the map.

• It accidentally brings fun of things to be discovered. Social media shows you what trends are globally, but Lokuround shows you the cool things with you.

• It keeps things related. You will only see posts that are nearby, so you will not scroll further through irrelevant content.

Why now? After pandemic illness, many of us are craving real, local contacts. We are spending more time at home, looking for our palaces, and wants to support local businesses. But we do not have today’s tools for it. Lokuround is here to fill this gap-which is combining our digital habits with the real world community.

We’re alive and will like your feedback! Try to post a handbill in your area and see what you are around. Let’s bring back some magic on the local discovery.
