Tech companies can voice their love for their advanced nuclear power. This shiny trend that is cleaning the energy sector – but they continue to increase renewable capacity.
Meta recently signed an agreement with Spanish Renewable Developer Zelstra for 595 MW Solar Power in Texas, just two weeks after signing a separate solar deal with Utility Company Angi. This is a remarkable purchase for the Tech Company, which currently represents a collision with more than 12 gigwats of renewable capacity under the contract.
The announcement came when Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has maintained the company’s expensive AI strategy – which will require huge investment in data centers.
Meta is racing her open source Lama 4 model to make rivals of closed source rivals like Open AI and Entropic. And when DiPsic showed that models can be developed more effectively, its approach is not necessarily applied to well -known edge models like Lama 4.
Zuckerberg said during a Wednesday call, Meta plans to spend $ 60 billion on capital investment this year, most of which will go to the infrastructure of the data center, calling it a “strategic advantage” for the company.
Like many of his colleagues, Meta is also betting that nuclear reactors can provide stable strength for their future computers, demanding tips for 1 to 4 GW capacity to come online in the early 2030s. A gigwat is enough to provide electricity to about 750,000 homes.
But the company cannot wait until it can be included in the influence of its data center. Meta and other data centers are deploying a huge amount of capital, which requires large quantities of electricity. Some Chowk Point experts predict that half of all new AI data centers will be administered by 2027.

The book right now
The construction of nuclear power plants takes years, and the latest crop of modern reactors has not yet been commercially proven. Natural gas power plants are slightly faster.
Nor can it cope with the speed of renewable deployment.
Solar form can be brought online in at least 18 months, and since this technology is modular, some parts of the power plant can start supplying power before being connected to the last panel.
This speed has allowed renewable sources to continue new contracts with tech companies such as air, solar, and grid scale battery storage. In addition to this week’s deal, Meta announced earlier this month that she had purchased 200 megawatts of solar from AG, which would come online later this year. Elsewhere, Microsoft Acadia is helping to deploy $ 9 billion renewable sources with infrastructure capital, while Google is anchoring each other with an increase in interacting power and TPG.
