Recent changes in Uber include adding one day to its hybrid work policy (from two days to three to three a week), and increasing the need for a Sabbath eligibility (one month of salary holiday) for five years to eight years.
Khusrooshahi told employees at the meeting, “If you are here for a Sabbath and you change your views with this change, that’s it.”
“I’m sorry about it,” he added. “We acknowledge that some of these changes are going to be unpopular with people. This is a threat we have decided to decide.”

Khusrooshahi mentioned the company’s internal message board at the beginning of the meeting, which he said was “attacked with questions.” Some people noted the shortage of desk space, a problem that has been suffering from tech companies since the return movement began. In some cases, the pushbacks have been so tough that competing companies – Verizon and AT&T, for example – use remotework policies as benefiting to hire high capabilities.
In response to the CNBC, the company said in a statement that “hardly surprising” employees pushed back about these changes, but “leadership work is to do in the best interest of our customers and shareholders.”
