Pay attention to your health – or your start will not survive

In 2006, just two years later in my banking career, my guardian David Craft Told me, “Fasten yourself. You don’t need to be nervous or burned under the road later.” I was only 24 years old at the time. I thought of smiling, “I don’t burn out.” Ten years later, as a 34 -year -old businessman, I was sorry to hear.

You think regular runs or occasional go to the gym are enough to protect your health. But if you are a business, think again. The construction of a startup places extraordinary emotional and psychological requirements on your body – demands that someone jog will be erased. Your body produces fractures and emotional stress.

My calculation came in August 2016.

I just returned from holiday in the Maldives – perhaps a break to recharge. Our start was in a “stable” phase: the revenue exceeded the costs, and we launched a new social trading tool. Every time the platform eliminated a winning recommendation, consumers made money and celebrated – our brain was blessed with Dopamine. When the trade failed, Cortisol, Adrenaline and Norpinephrine kicked, causing this response to gut wrenching stress.

This chemical roller coaster was permanent. Include scaling and debugging pressures, and I inadvertently created a storm inside my nervous system. It was a trigger incident, but since working in 2005, such incidents have made my journey pointed out.

One morning, I woke up with a strange sensation. Every breath felt inadequate. That feeling was behind me all day. Days change in weeks, walking around frightened.

Was it a problem? No, it was something else.

In three weeks of trial, I canceled dinner plans and tried to sleep. But even lying down, I suffered a breath. Then my heart started racing, clearly corrupt. I was terrified. It causes a heart attack. I arrived at a private hospital, but eventually, they called me a panic attack and sent me home.

It wasn’t.

That night, whenever I tried to sleep, my heart was awake. Adrenaline increased unintentionally. My body was tired, but I couldn’t rest. Until the morning, I felt zombies. Eating caused inflammation. Breathing, sleeping, walking – even speaking – had become luxury. Walking for five minutes caused the chest tightness. I was a prisoner in my own body. The situation continued for a month before throwing it in the towel.

I handed over operations to my COO and returned to Germany in November 2016 for help. My childhood physician runs a battery of tests. I saw experts from neurology, pulmonology, cardiology, endocrinology – everything came back to normal.

The fact, I realized later, was easy: I had ignored my health for a decade. My nervous system was overwhelmed. It was The cost of relentless ambitions. I crossed a line.

So, I did what I always did – I made it internal. I clearly accepted it, shielded and returned to partial functionality. Breathing was difficult. I was intolerant of food, sleep disruption – yet I went ahead with the business being more complicated.

The main reason for this, though, remained ridiculous until 2022.

This year, when we emerged from pandemic disease, a new symptom flashed. I met a rheumatologist and told me that my body was permanently stuck in a fight or flight mode. He killed me. The years of tension had re -created my system. My body cannot distinguish minor pressure from existential threats. Even food or light exercise will stimulate inflammation. My nervous system had become very sensitive.

Understanding the cause of the root changed everything. This week, my breathing measurement improved – for the first time in six years. It was far from perfect, but I noticed Human Once again I made my diet easier, from two times a week to four, then six.

In the next three years, I preferred physical hardship to balance my nervous system. Stress still came from work, but Cortisol was burned permanently. Slowly, the symptoms are gone.

1. Your body is at stress – find a way to release it

Reject, investor failures, staff departure – takes each tool. You absorb them, even change their success. However, over time, emotional debt is embroidered in the cellular fabric of your body. Chronic stress accumulates, eventually appears physically. Neglect it for a long time, and it can Break you. Take time in an external hobby that is associated with your start. A hobby, ideally, should not include screen time, as you are at a distance of a few clicks from work -related email checking.

2. See the diet as a medicine

Entrepreneurship often comes with horrific nutritional habits. Wines, cigarettes, energy drinks, junk food – this is common, but deadly over time. These habits not just affect your waist. They hurt your DNA And mental chemistry.

I never drank or smoked – this is a collision with my fitness and martial arts routines – but I still paid the price through an inappropriate diet and stress. 4. Improvement in health can translate better business performance
