Jain was once known as a “resonant conductor”. Her gift was strange – she could hear the echoes of emotions trapped in forgotten moments. He smelled the woman’s laughter, the sunlight behind him, orange peels and smoke. Then came a sudden rush of fear—an incomplete goodbye.
