We have heard contradictory rumors that Snapdragon 8 Elite General 2 processor, which will be expected to be used in the Galaxy S26 series, can be manufactured both TSMC and Samsung. Now, a reliable, has reiterated this claim.

If the Qualcomm moves forward with this dual sourceing strategy, I expect the Galaxy S26 series to use the Samsung -made chip set. A cheap Snapdragon 8 Elite General 2 chip can be the good news for these phones, as Samsung can theoretically offer to freeze the price on the Galaxy S26 series. A cheap snapdragon 8 Elite General 2 can also be easy for the base flagship of 2 other brands (eg, Xumi 16, Honor Magic 8), which can allow freezing or upgrading the price in different areas.
However, this strategy is a potential loss. Samsung has traditionally left behind the TSMC on the chip manufacturing front. This disparity had previously shown itself in chips with low performance and performance. So I would expect that the Snapdragon 8 Elite General 2 made from TSMC will offer better performance and battery life than the Samsung structure. Again, it is fully possible that the Samsung-made Snapdragon chip can compare with the TSMC-structured version for once.
The news has also come out when Samsung’s apparently galaxy S26 series models have to present the Ecinos 2600 chip inside the country. So it seems that the choice of chip for these phones is not yet sure.
