Secrets behind the franchise boom of this viral bezel brand

Pop -up bags, “not famous but famous” brand, has developed a clutter with its unique style about the seeds: they are heated and sold in a pack of just three or more, which weekly “scammers” – unique, flavorful cream cheese or butter options – This simplicity has translated into an explosive growth.

Adam Goldberg founded popup bags in West Port, Connecticut in 2020, actually as a backyard popup for friends and neighbors during pandemic diseases. He did not intend to start a business, but the answer was immediately and great. What started as a hobby over the weekend was rapidly developed in a complete brand as the word spread, the lines increased and the demand pursued its original intentions.

Since launching its franchise program at the end of 2023, pop -up bagles have already signed 300 units in 10 states – with less than 15 franchises behind the entire expansion.

“This is a completely different model,” says Tory Bartlet, who joined the brand as CEO in September 2023. We are not selling milk shakes and fries. Soda is not springs. There are no ice machines.

Small stores, large numbers

Private Equity firm StampingThe majority investor of pop -up bags recruited bartlet to guide the company’s franchise strategy. He quickly saw that the concept was forced so much: Small fit print shops (usually 1,000 to 1,200 square feet), minimum goods, do not mention the demand for low labor-labor requirements. Some high volume units are generating 5 million annually with 12 employees on books.

“Our shops don’t even have seats,” says Bartlet. And we are open from 7am to 4pm, which makes it incredibly attractive to the skills-our chefs can stay home over time to take their children from school. “

The basic philosophy of this brand is all about the spread, Bartlett says. Although some franchise systems chase the volume by selling large numbers of single unit deals, popups adopted an anti -approach, giving a small, carefully selected group of operators to large areas.

“I have well rejected the capitalist people because they were not fit,” says Bartlet. “We’re looking for experienced franchises that know their local market, are in the infrastructure space and they want to stay by hand. If you are just looking for a mailbox money, this is not an idea for you.”

Unique Web

This intention has helped maintain the brand as its sects, even as it spreads. Shops are designed for speed, energy and Instagram experiments, including “beagle bouncer” with line and music pumping in the background of “Beagle Bouncer”. Each beagle is sold hot and fresh, and secret sauce – literally – in the scammer.

“We have 500 people standing in line to start popups at 5am,” says Bartlet.

The franchisees see energy themselves. “We did a pop -up event with Rob Gronkoski’s restaurant in Tampa, and within three minutes of posting about it, the seeds were sold.” MP Z HoldingsWhich is about to open its first popup position in Tampa and mostly owns Florida’s popup franchising rights. “It just shows you how strong the brand is, even in the markets where we haven’t opened yet.”

Gulply, who is eventually intended to open 30 popup spots in Florida, is already a multi -unit operator in Marco’s pizza and Dave’s hot chicken system. He says, “We are brutally happy with the possibility of this category.” Along with Dave, it is about to become our fastest growing portfolio, in which many capitals have been allocated for it. “

Playing its (growing) audience

In an era where the scirletting bloodout costs and flat sales are squeezing the traditional restaurant ROI, the bartlet popup sees better, as part of a new wave of more concentrated food concentrations – with brands like Aurobel.

“Since Covade, the cost of building a restaurant has increased by 40 % – and stays there,” he says. “Meanwhile, sales have not been followed. We have designed to provide more than 20 percent margin to this brand. That’s why it makes it sustainable.”

Popup bags are already operating in New York, Boston and Connecticut, Florida, La Julla neighborhood of San Diego, LA Brent Wood neighborhoods and other major markets are opening new stores soon. And while the growth is impressive, the bartlet is careful not to allow the standard of high -speed compromise.

“We’re not trying to be Next Beagle China, “They say.” We are trying to be a hot bagal, the best version of ourselves at a time. “
