In the corridor between the walls of time, Jane worked as a smiling counterfeiting.
His work was strange: he collected the remnants of happiness with fracture memories – the sharp moments that once illuminated a room and disappeared before remembering them. Jane was roaming in the mental debris, brushing dust with old springs, saving the lubricants embedded in the dreamers, and staying behind those who had long forgotten how to smile.
Every morning, he chose a forgotten smile to restore. She would detect her edges with hidden ink, improve the rotation with her memory -driven hands, and gently breathe life in her warmth. She knew which smiles could improve a broken morning, which one could silence loneliness, and who were very damaged to live.
But one evening, Jane suffered a smile that was very powerful to forge. He belonged to someone who had given others a joy but no one was still left for himself. Smile shines with grief, flexible but deep hidden layers. Jane hesitated. She couldn’t do it again – just return it.
So, he stepped into a smile. He wrapped it like a light through the screen. At that moment, Jane felt every joy she had ever offered – each thread was made in her soul. And since then, Jane no longer makes a smile for others. She became the guardian of the first smile – protecting the source, which is still flowing, no matter how unconscious, no matter how unconscious it is.
