What is your / your fund’s mission?

Flood Gate is there to invest in prime mouters – businessmen who make movements that become categories that become companies to become a company -defying company – before the rest of the world believes.

What is the one thing you are passionate about right now?

I am sure that big companies emerge when very big topics collide. A similar conflict is still encouraging to centralize the data so that the data obtained due to privacy concerns and lack of confidence in institutions to the machine learning algorithm and simultaneous social pressure. Then, how can we protect our data while who we are while understanding the system and what do we want to do? I think this is the answer – intelligence, new technology that is created by offering intelligent control over our own data. Although I have not yet found a company that really focuses on this topic, you can imagine a world in which everyone is able to control all their personal data and only reveals what they want.

Which of your founders is that you think we should see?

Nancy Loblin, Lores. CEO, is definitely founder to look. Nancy is a natural creator of movements. Earlier, it laid the foundation for the dress for success, a network that promotes women professionally and personally, and the crisis textline, and a non -profit textline, which supports the interference of crisis through text. Both organizations are incredibly successful in taking advantage of thousands of volunteers to solve humanitarian issues, which have a profound influence on women and adolescents of daily life across the country. Nancy brings this vast experience into the world of enterprise software. She is taking advantage of the knowledge that she has assembled in technology development to prioritize the crisis text -line messages and trained volunteers to interact with people with a crisis more and more effectively. She will translate this into enterprise corporations that will try to empower their organizations to have a tough conversation with employees, employees and partners.

What and when was your first investment? What did you kill about them?

Task Rabit; November 2009

What do you ask yourself before investing in a company?

Is this founder with whom I want to work for ten years? And do I think they want to work with me for ten years?

What is one thing to each founder before walking in a meeting with a potential investor?

Does this investor match the expectations of what I want for this company and my life?

Who is a leader you appreciate?

I really appreciate Chief Investment Officer David Susanson in Yale. It has changed the style that universities have arranged their punishment and nurtured incredible, diverse abilities in their organization. Former students from his office are now leaders in the endowment offices all over the country, and a part of it is because he is capable of promoting great abilities because he is working on the mission he loves.

What are the top 3 features of every great leader?

1. They have strong beliefs, which are easily held. Great leaders can listen to those who do not agree with them, can learn from experience and even experience with plans, but they maintain their belief.

2. They rent. Great leaders, by serving the services of people, make excellent teams that are better than leaders themselves.

3. When examining opportunities, great leaders can explain the risks of a given condition and the reasons for their reasons.

Favorite Business Book, Blog, Pod Cast?

Play the bigger By al -Ramadan, Dave Patterson, Christopher Loach Head, and Kevin Mani. This is different, because instead of focusing on the construction of a product or business, they are thinking about the construction of a category. And they have data to show how important it is.

What is your favorite thing when you’re not working?

I like teaching Whether teaching my children at home or teaching your class at Entrepreneurship in Stanford, this is something I really like to do. And I like to eat.

What is a piece of advice to every founder of you?

You have to do everything – this is the work of your life. It will take everything you have, and it will have sacrifices, but in the end it is worth it.

What should you do in CEO’s Top 3 company’s preferences?

1. Make every part of your company (product, business model, organization, category) as it is your product. It deserves to focus on your attention, experience and detail

2. Eliminate disturbances. Eliminate disturbances. Eliminate disturbances.

3. The strategy to reduce loss is not a strategy. Follow the winning strategy.

Something else?

Although we spend a lot of time talking about numbers, matrix and framework, it is an artistic component of entrepreneurship that is really important. You have to imagine a world that does not exist and find a way to resurrect it. This gives you a license to think differently. And it’s fun!
