Are you calling my attention to violations of your social norms? are you crazy

When a volunteer human moderator on a popular AI text-to-image community ‘art’ platform sends you a ‘friendly’ warning about being removed from the chat room if you don’t want to leave a rant about an avalanche of scantily clad pin-up girls in your feed… well, you know you’ve touched a raw nerve. When that same moderator (who is clearly not well-suited for the job) then blocks you from accessing her account when you didn’t even have the slightest inclination to try anyway because her job just isn’t your cup of tea… well, you know she’s hiding something.

After three hours of interminable, deeply frustrating text exchanges about whether or not the community ‘art’ platform is violating its security standards and you announce to the extraordinary moderator and his colleagues that they’ve just provided enough hard evidence to support a complaint to the Consumer Protection Commission (and they’re backpedaling), you know you’re on the right track!

Doing the right thing in a social media-type environment is uncomfortable. It’s exhausting. More often than not it creates a virtual existence alone. But somebody has to do it. There should be more.

Without considering the possibility of a deeper side (and then exploring there), the AI simply went out into the world of text-to-image ‘artists’, what do I do next? A rhetorical question of course. The options are to close my account in a huff (which is probably what the powers that be are hoping for) – or to keep bumping into it so I can gather more evidence and whenever an obviously offensive image finds its way into my feed. My account is set up for safe browsing, so I shouldn’t encounter pinup girls unless I go looking for them (which I don’t now, I’m told they get special treatment and are generally considered safe viewing). Anyway, they are on my face by default installed by the platform!

what will you do
