The Quick Base describes “gray work” as the hidden costs of disconnected data and manual work work, which often come with the increasing use of workplace tools and lead to a decrease in productivity.

According to the research, 80 % of respondents reported an increase in investment in more than 66 % productivity, work management and cooperation tools in 2024, yet 59 % agreed that it seems more difficult than being fruitful.

In addition, 73 % of the respondents said that using several project management software solutions prevents the information easily and 75 % said they have made it difficult to see all the data at one place. As a result, many workers stressed that such tools cause delays (50 %), reduce the effect (53 %) and waste time (59 %).

This device -based production capacity covers various industries, but especially in financial services/insurance and professional services industries, which has seen a 67 % increase in manual work compared to last year.

Research shows that increasing the adoption of AI can help smooth productivity through workplace tools, but it is not without its own challenges.
