I have got the provision
Personally, I don’t think that what is currently being marketed as “AI” is actually legitimate “artificial intelligence”. I think a better term would be something like “content aggregator”. But whatever I may call it, will not change the fact that its production is complex and compelling enough to achieve results that have long been the exclusive domain of human creativity.
And it can do so at scales, speeds and costs that no human can match. Which creates the possibility of replacing people in creative fields.
If you’re like me, like you love to draw and write, this is obviously a major concern. If an image of any kind can be obtained from a machine in an instant, then what is the value in a single person taking all the time it takes a human to create their own image? Should I even bother putting in work hours, and use the “AI” itself instead? Would anyone care what I would make if I could make their own images to their satisfaction? Would anyone pay someone else for creative work?
These are all important questions, but, overall, I’m not that worried about them. Neither on a philosophical level, nor on a practical level. Not only do I think it’s worth creating for my personal…
