Genspark for Excel is an AI assistant that lives inside Microsoft Excel, handling formulas, charts, data analysis, and even web research, all through plain English prompts.
I’m hunting for this because the “AI in your workflow” promise usually means tab switching. It’s actually embedded into the tool millions of people already have open all day.
The problem is familiar: Excel has deep potential but a steep learning curve. Most users know 10% of what it can do, and they spend hours on formulas they can only half understand, charts they can’t get right, and having to Google for analysis.
Genspark sits inside Spreadsheet as a plugin and handles the syntax layer. You specify what you want, it writes and enters the formula. You choose a data range, tell it the story you want to tell, it creates the chart. You ask a question about your data, it answers in plain language.
A few things stand out: a formula explainer (paste any formula, get a step-by-step breakdown), and a web research to spreadsheet feature, where it searches the web and auto-populates your cells. That second one is truly different from anything else I’ve seen in this category.
A perfect fit for business analysts, operations managers, finance teams, and frankly anyone who uses Excel daily but isn’t a power user.
What is the Excel task that takes up the most time for you right now? Are you able to cover Genspark?
